Who is Time To Garden?
Hello gardener, I’m Devin, and welcome to Time to Garden. I believe anyone can grow a productive and beautiful vegetable garden and I’m here to help you. Whether you have an established garden that needs updating or you are brand new to vegetable gardening, together we’ll build the garden of your dreams.
As a kid I always had fun messing around in my parent’s garden where we picked tomatoes and cucumbers fresh off the vine to make sandwiches for lunch. So when my wife and I first moved to our current home we decided to put in a garden of our own. That first garden was pretty simple and I treated it like your typical summer garden, which was all I knew of gardening at the time.
Years later I built a new kitchen garden, better situated on the opposite side of our yard to bask in the sun all day long. Larger this time for the crops I learned will take over (looking at you potatoes). By now I understood your garden is more than a one season “summer garden” but a three-season garden: Spring, Summer, and Fall. This was a revelation, because it meant there was three times the growing season to enjoy, leaving the winter for planning and reflection.
Your garden can be as big or small as you desire, but no matter the size, even a 4x4 foot raised bed can be prosperous and give you something delicious to eat daily through most of the growing season. It should be situated somewhere close to your home, after all, it’s going to be a beautiful space not just filled with veg, but also with flowers that will attract pollinators. Your garden should be a feature statement in your yard, a spot to enjoy. It will be a space you look forward to spending time, if only to sit out with a cup of coffee in the morning or a cocktail as the sun sets.
So come along, it’s time to garden.
